ASDA Walmart set to extend Estate Agency trials - 31/08/2006

ASDA Walmart are currently trialling their Estate Agency portal in 10 stores in the North East of England and plan to roll this trial out to 21 stores by the end of September 2006. ASDA franchise the service from a company called Homes@Supermarkets and we understand that a similiar scheme is being considered by Tesco and Sainsburys. The cost for sellers of the ASDA service is that they will pay 1% of the sale price of the property on a no sale, no fee basis. Prospective buyers can browse and view properties through ASDA branches taking part in the trial and also on the internet with follow-up being dealt with by staff who will guide prospective buyers through the properties on offer. The new scheme has been greeted with mixed reaction from traditional Estate Agents and prospective buyers and sellers alike but we will keep you updated on progress on this front over the coming months.
