Home Condition Reports will not form part of the initial HIPs plan - 20/07/2006
The Government yesterday announced that Home Condition Reports will not form a compulsory aspect of HIPs when they are launched next year. The implications of this change in policy mean that only the Energy Efficiency rating will form part of the compulsory HIPs package however Home Condition Reports can still be included in the pack as optional but initially this will be market led as opposed to being a compulsory part of Home Information Packs. The overall cost of preparing and producing the HIP without the inclusion of the report is now anticipated to be between £300 and £500. This will undoubtedly assist those clients who wish to sell their homes but do not want the burden of high charges to do so and may assist in ensuring that the housing market does not go through a slump following the introduction of HIPs next year.
